Community Transport

COMMUNITY TRANSPORT (C.T.) meets the transport needs of communities, where those needs are not met by public and commercial transport.
Individual schemes are non-profit making and often developed and run by community and voluntary groups to serve their own community. They may meet the needs of the whole community or specific groups within a community.

Throughout the region there are several successful schemes in operation. These include :

• Dial a ride schemes – these are community based and are run by voluntary management committees.
• Taxi Card Schemes run by Voluntary Groups.
• The provision of minibuses for hire.
• Group hire schemes and voluntary car schemes.
